Six Sentence Sunday #SixSentenceSunday #Drabble

I haven't written anything new in over two weeks so I decided to pop in a little drabble and see what happens. Here you go:

"We need to get back to camp or our moms will start to worry."

"I know, I know," I grumble as we move back toward the shore, his hands tugging me along the lake water.

"Why can't we escape somewhere, just you and I?" I ask softly as we walk up the shore out of the water, my heart getting heavy as we move closer toward our camp.

"You know why," he responds, my heart sinking. I do know why.

Suddenly, he turns toward me, stopping me. "I promise you, as soon as I get home, I'm going to tell them. I won't hide you. I won't hide me. I promise you."

His words shake me and I need him closer. Yanking him to me, I pick him up and he wraps himself around me. Between kisses he whispers the words I've wanted to hear since I met him our freshman year of high school. "I promise."

What do you think?
