Six Sentence Sunday

Here's a little angsty bit from Downpour:

"Breakfast run? An errand or something? It’s Sunday. Church or a family thing?” Peter asks quickly showing his eagerness to dissuade me from my negativity.
I just shake my head.
“I’m sure he had a reason, Markus,” Jesse says as he rubs my shoulder.
“He was so smitten. I truly don’t think he just bailed.” Peter looks from me to Jesse then back. “Really. He really likes you.”
“True, man. That kid was totally after you.”
“Well, he got me, and now he’s gone.”

Friday Five

Five things about my new novel:

1- I'm almost done! Query letter ready to go! <3 YIPES!

2- I've already started on a sequel.

3- My character Clint makes me sad and happy at the same time.

4- Jesse is my make-believe boyfriend.

5- This song has been on repeat while I've been writing. How great is Ron Pope?!
Happy Friday!

What are you reading, Wednesday?

What am I reading?

Evangeline Anderson's Brides of the Kindred series.
A desperate girl on the run with nowhere to hide... A warrior who has made a vow never to claim a bride... Sophia Waterhouse is being Hunted and the only man who can save her is the one she fears the most...
Of course you are.

The first in the series is Claimed, a great read, but I think I like Hunted even more. Go check it out!

So what are you reading?

Six Sentence Sunday

Here's a little insight into Peter and Jesse from my novel Downpour:

“Mark brought pizza! And wins flatmate of the century!” Peter meets me as I open the door. Jesse comes strolling in, shirtless and disgusting from what I hope was time in the gym. “Don’t you dare take any until you bathe!” Jesse stops where he is and turns back into their bedroom.

Peter turns to me with a big grin. I think he very much enjoys bossing Jesse around since Jesse outweighs him by at least fifty pounds. Their relationship looks completely off when you take them at face value, the little studious grad student and the big, bad athlete, but those of us who spend time with them know who’s in charge. And it’s not the giant jock who benches two-fifty, but the scrawny Brit in the cardigan.

What Are Reading, Wednesday?

LOL Sorry. Couldn't resist.
SO what am I reading?
Well, lots actually. I am editing Downpour and trying to get it ready to submit to publishers :D
And I started reading Darkfever by Karen M Moning. It's slow going so far, but I promised I wouldn't quit it.

I was also sent Alienporn thanks to Ms. Rheana and I am :-o! It's so ridiculous, yet I can't stop reading it. It's a series called Claimed by Evangeline Anderson.

So that's what I'm reading. What are YOU reading?

Six Sentence Sunday

I had such a wonderful day today working with authors at a book fair in my town. Thousands of people and hundreds of authors and millions of books. Bliss!

So, I decided to post my Sunday Six early!

Today made so excited to finish my novel and start again on the publishing journey. I've been down the last few weeks, a lot of stress and not feeling very positive about anything, but this story. These boys have been my ray of sunshine and I can't wait to share them.

Here's a little snippet for the weekend. Let me know what you think :)

“Oh, sweet boy.” She pats my head. “He plays for your team. Star player!” She bounces with thumbs up. “Go ask him out.”
“No, I can’t do that. He’s so shy. I don’t want to scare him off.”
“Try the number trick on his cup.”
“Tried. He lost the cup in the rain.”
“Ah, okay...." She sits back down and taps her chin. "Then just go ask him about classes. He’s reading a book on World War I, why don’t you ask him about it? You’re a nerd.”
“I’m pre-med.”
Ella smiles and hops off the stool making her ponytail sway behind her. “Yes. Like I said, you’re a nerd. Go talk to him.”

Six Sentence Sunday

Another snippet from Downpour. I'd love to hear what you think.

He regards me for a long time, then finally asks, “You gonna tell me what’s goin’ on?” His Southern often shows more when he’s irritated or upset.
I sigh and reply, “I don’t really know.”
Sitting down beside me on the couch, he asks, “Well, did the fridge talk shit about your momma?”
He catches me off guard and I say, “No!” louder than I had wanted.
“Okay, then why were you hollering and throwing food in the shop?”
“I was pissed.”
“No shit.”

What do you think?

Friday Five!

This week was a busy one.

1- Finished my novel. 43K in 3 weeks. Where was this spark during NaNo?
2- I'm still hemming and hawing over the length... it's too short to be a novel for most publishers, but if the story is done, then it's done, right?
3- I am so very appreciative to my prereaders who are helping me so much through this process.
4- My next plan is to outline my sequel/prequel from Downpour and see where that takes me while I'm on submission for Downpour.
5- It's been a rough few weeks but things seem to be moving forward finally, so I am very happy for that even if I am still worried about all the stress. Must keep focusing on the positive.

How was your week?
